School Farm

We are very fortunate to have an on-site Farm and designated Forest School nature area. The Farm has a resident donkey, Polly, a Guinea Pig Village, two sheep, a selection of unusual breed chickens and we often have pigs too! There is also a Polytunnel and large allotment for growing fruit and vegetables as well as an orchard where we grow apples to make our own apple juice.

The children have weekly Enrichment lessons on the grounds, where they help to clean out and care for our animals, plant seeds and tend the allotment and attend Forest School sessions.

We are recently working with the charity LEAF to use the farm in different areas of our curriculum. At SRG, we recognise that developing children’s understanding and appreciation for farming and where food comes from will help them lead healthy lives and to inspire them to look after the natural world, now and into their bright futures.

We are ever thankful to our wonderful Farm Committee, made up of parents and volunteer staff, who help to raise funds and keep our lovely farm running and to all of the children and their parents who sign up to give time to come and feed and look after the animals over weekends and holidays.
