Linked to our topic of Waters of the World, children from Years 5 and 6 have each produced a collaborative piece of clay work. Their work has been inspired by and conveys the ocean advocacy message of the American ceramic artist Courtney Mattison – We need to protect our seas and be aware that climate change is causing sea temperatures to rise and for coral reefs to become bleached. The children constructed their clay forms using a variety of hand building techniques and carefully mixed colours to replicate those of the artist.
