Cake Sale: to raise money for Mission Rabies
Mandy Kellagher, one of our Governors, is going to India to work on a Mission Rabies campaign, vaccinating feral dogs.
Rabies kills over 60,000 people every year, 40% of whom are children under 15, mostly in developing countries. 99% of cases are caused by dog bites and once signs of disease are shown it is almost always fatal.
However, rabies is 100% preventable by vaccinating dogs and educating people. Mission Rabies is currently targeting areas in Asia and Africa with the aim of eradicating rabies from the world by 2030.
Mandy will be talking to the children about the project in assembly on Monday 16th September. Her trip is entirely self-funded but she is hoping to raise money for the charity and we are holding a cake sale on Thursday 19th September for which your generous donations of cakes would be very gratefully received.
