Landrake Run
On Friday 15th March 2024 at 1.30pm (registration from 12.15pm) the annual cross-country run for KS2 school children takes place here at SRG. Between five and six hundred children from about thirty schools usually take part. The race will start from the main playground.
The course, some three ‘Cornish’ miles, is billed as the hardest, dirtiest, wettest but the most interesting in Cornwall. It starts and finishes at the school and takes in lanes, fields, woods, hills and a salt marsh. If you complete the course and are still dry, you’ve gone the wrong way! You are advised to bring something suitable for the journey home to sit on, eg. a bin liner.
Children must have had some training over a similar distance and be able to run most of the course. Only KS2 children should take part, as parts of the course are quite strenuous. St John Ambulance will be in attendance and the course will be marshalled and signed throughout its entire length.
If you wish to participate, please inform the school together with the number of children you expect to take part by Monday 26th February 2024 at the latest, either by phone on 01752 851362 or by email to: admin@sir-robert-gefferys.cornwall.sch.uk.
