Here come the brides… and grooms!
Here at SRG, we like to make learning as practical, interesting and memorable as possible – we build lots of experiential learning into our broad curriculum. Children love lessons that stand out in their memory.
This week, children from our Year 3 and Year 4 classes put on their poshest frocks and smart clothes to take part in a full-blown wedding celebration at the Landrake village church of St Michael’s. This was to add to their classwork in the RE curriculum where they have been learning about ‘vows’ and promises and the parts of a Christian marriage.
We are indebted to Reverend Laura who pulled out all the stops to make this a truly memorable experience for all involved. The children took on roles of best men, ushers, ring bearers, bridesmaids, flower girls mothers and fathers of the brides!
We also had some wonderful musical accompaniments from four of the Year 4 girls who sang and played the piano. Mrs Pearson lent her actual wedding dress to Kezia and Trish lent her veil that she wore to her own wedding to our other bride Harriet. Mr Yeoman even decorated his car to transport one of our brides and bridesmaids to the ceremony. Back at school both classes were treated to best men and father of the bride speeches.
The sun shone and everyone enjoyed what was a very special day!
