Reception children ventured out on their first school trip this last week to Cotehele National Trust House to complete the scarecrow trail. They had great fun following the trail around the beautiful National Trust House and gardens at Cotehele. There they hunted for scarecrows on the trail, using their early reading skills to pick up letter clues as they went. They also enjoyed recognising the numbers on the big pumpkins next to each scarecrow and making sure they were finding them in number order!
All the scarecrows were inspired by local folklore, including the mermaid of Zennor, St Piran and King Arthur, to name but a few. But the most exciting part was finding their own SRG scarecrow at the very end, which was inspired by stories of Cornish giants! All children were amazing role models and represented our school so positively.
A huge thank you again to Cotehele for inviting us to take part and for creating this autumnal trail.
