World Book Day 2023
The theme this year for World Book Day was Reading for Pleasure and at Sir Robert
Geffery’s we well and truly immersed ourselves in the wonderful world of books! Both children and staff dressed up as their favourite book characters, from vintage to modern, characters by Lewis Carroll to Julia Donaldson and witches and wizards to Mary Poppins. You name it we saw it all, it was like stepping into our own book of adventures
Classes from Reception to Year 6 participated in a ‘Book Tasting Cafe’ activity as part of their English lesson. This activity gave children the opportunity to explore a range of different books and genres and use book talk strategies to discuss their choices, preferences and opinions with each other. All children had a great time at their class café and a real buzz of excitement and energy could be seen and felt around the school!
