Year 5 and 6 Reach for the Stars!

Spaceport – STEM visit for years 5 and 6
On Thursday 16th May, Year 5 and 6 children visited Spaceport Cornwall as part of a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths opportunity. The specialist tour involved learning about the work carried out there – such as launching satellites into space, as well as investigating future careers in the space industry.  The children were amazed to learn about the care needed to ensure no contaminates touched the satellites; the long planning process and the sheer size of the rockets needed to launch. They were full of curious questions and there was a real buzz of excitement throughout the trip. The lady leading the tour commented on the pupils behaviour and levels of interest – great to hear! As part of the Enthuse Partnership we will be continuing and strengthening this link.
Everyone is looking forward to our Science Technology Engineering Arts and Maths week in school later this term.
