As is long-standing tradition at Sir Robert Geffery’s, our Year 6 class enjoyed a week-long residential trip to London recently. Their many experiences over the five days really did amount to quite an exceptional educational experience.
Some of the highlights included:
- Visiting the Tate Modern and questioning ‘What really is Art?’
- Sights of Buckingham Palace and the Mall within weeks of King Charles III’s Coronation
- Scaled the heights of St Paul’s Cathedral dome and sitting in the special wooden quires whilst experiencing Evensong sung by a visiting choir
- Enjoying a unique experience of a first-class table-service banquet in the Ironmongers Hall with a sleepover in this historic building, further cementing their understanding and appreciation of the unique and special relationship that the school has with the Ironmonger’s company (of which Sir Robert Geffery was a member, previous Lord Mayor of London and founded the school)
- Guided tour of the Houses of Parliament by our local MP – children entered both the House of Commons and House of Lords
- Exciting Thames River Cruise and London Eye views
- Visits to the Science and Natural History museums
- Fun-packed water sports day at the YHA
What amazing memories to cherish forever!
