Spring Time Forest Schools at SRG

Forest School
Reception have Forest Schools every week here at SRG, with KS1 and KS2 enjoying sessions in their enrichment curriculum.

At forest school this week, children in different year groups went looking for signs of spring in the beautiful crisp sunshine. We were excited to find daffodils, bluebell shoots and primroses we talked about the different parts of the flowers and their identifying features.

Year 6 were natural scientists and dissected some roses to closer investigate and observe the anatomy of the flowers and how they pollinate and reproduce: using a detailed diagram we were able to identify many features within the flower. Younger children noticed the budding trees and explored the texture of the catkins. We were intrigued to watch the crows building their nest above the fire circle and we continue to observe the changes of the frogspawn in the pond.

Children also enjoyed climbing, making bases, mud kitchen recipes and chilling in the hammock. We had toasted pineapple on the fire … what a super experience all round. Thank you to Kyleigh, our own Forest School leader.
