Bishop David of Truro Diocese Visits SRG

We were delighted to welcome a very special guest to our school today: Bishop David from the Truro Diocese. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring visit for both our pupils and staff.

The visit began with a powerful presentation from our student Eco Representatives, who confidently shared their ‘Manifesto for Change.’ Demonstrating a wonderful passion for environmental issues, the children challenged Bishop David to consider how he and the wider diocese could support improvements in three key areas within our community: trees and biodiversity; waste management; and sustainable transport. Bishop David listened intently to their ideas and commended the children for their forward-thinking approach to caring for our environment. Thank you to Mrs Cunningham, whose dedicated running of the Eco Club and brilliant guidance prepared the children so well for this fantastic presentation.

Our brilliant Head girl/boy team then proved themselves to be excellent ambassadors for the school, leading Bishop David on a comprehensive tour of our classrooms and outdoor learning spaces. The tour concluded in delightful fashion with a visit to one of our most popular residents – Polly the donkey – who was more than happy to join in the afternoon’s excitement.

We would like to extend our warmest thanks to Bishop David for his time, his encouragement, and for listening so thoughtfully to our students’ visions for a greener, brighter future.
