Lighting Up Learning: UV Cream Reveals Why Accurate Instructions Matter!

Year 3 brought their Instructional Writing to life recently, with an exciting hands-on lesson using UV cream.

The children took part in a mini‑experiment in which four pupils applied UV cream to their hands. When Mr Yeoman shone a UV torch over them, the glowing patches revealed how germs can linger on our skin. The class then put their hand‑washing skills to the test to see whether they could remove all the “germs” – with mixed success.

This led to a brilliant demonstration: one pupil followed a set of hand‑washing instructions created by the class, using time connectives and clear, ordered steps. After carefully following the instructions, the UV torch revealed spotless hands, proving just how important precise, well‑written instructions can be.

A fantastic, engaging lesson that brought learning to life – well done Mr Yeoman and Year 3!
