On Friday, we were delighted to welcome SRG families to our annual Speech Day, held in the marquee, to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our pupils over the past year.
This year’s theme, Courageous Advocacy, inspired a vibrant showcase of songs, sketches, and performances from each class. The children demonstrated all they have learned about standing up for themselves and others, delivering their pieces with confidence, energy, and pride.
The celebration featured impressive performances from the school orchestra and choir, as well as some much-loved whole-school favourite songs too. Awards were presented by the Senior Warden of the Ironmongers, with many KS1 and KS2 pupils recognised for their hard work, progress and contributions to school life.
Speech Day also marked a time of fond farewells. We said goodbye to Mr Arundell, who retires this year after many years of dedicated service; to Niamh, who is off to begin her university journey; and to Miss Spry, who is moving on to a new teaching post at another school.
In addition, we proudly celebrated three long-standing members of staff – Mrs Cunningham, Trish and Jackie – as they each approach a remarkable 25 years of service at SRG.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special day. It was a fitting celebration of courage, creativity, and community spirit.
