Pentillie Delight

Our Year 1 and Year 2 children recently enjoyed a wonderful day of outdoor learning at Pentillie Estate, where they immersed themselves in nature, creativity, and local history.

One of the highlights of the visit was creating story sticks using natural materials collected from around the Estate grounds. The children carefully selected leaves, flowers, feathers, twigs and other treasures to decorate their sticks, before using them as prompts to tell imaginative stories. It was fantastic to see their creativity flourish as they shared their ideas with friends.

The children also took part in a workshop learning to make beautiful nature mandalas. Using sticks, stones, petals and leaves, they worked collaboratively to create intricate circular patterns. The activity encouraged teamwork, observation skills, and an appreciation for the natural world around them. The finished artworks were both colourful and impressive, showcasing the children’s creativity and attention to detail.

Due to some rather soggy weather, Year 2 were lucky enough to be treated to an indoor talk about some of the remarkable artefacts that have been discovered on the Pentillie Estate grounds through metal detecting. The children were captivated as they learned about objects from the past and what they can tell us about the people who once lived and worked in the area. Seeing the artefacts up close brought history to life and sparked plenty of curiosity and questions.

The visit provided a fantastic opportunity for the children to explore, create and learn in a beautiful outdoor setting. We would like to thank the staff at Pentillie Estate for making the day so enjoyable and memorable.
