As part of the Year 6 PSHE Jigsaw programme, the children created a fundraising event to raise money for their chosen charities. The groups of children planned and organised this themselves – from deciding what items they’d like to sell, to how much they will charge – and have chosen charities close to their hearts. These range from local animal charities, such as Gables, to national medical research organisations such as Dementia UK and Cancer Research.
Over the course of three days, they held stalls during break times where they sold a range of items from soft toys, to baked goods and fidget toys. They also had some brave volunteers to go in the stocks and be ‘sponged’, or there was a penalty shootout style game too. It was a huge success amongst pupils and has raised a staggering £380!
Well done Year 6 – what a great way to develop skills like teamwork, leadership and entrepreneurship while also giving back to the community.
